How to Install and Configure iTeleport SSH Tunneling with Ubuntu ( using vino vnc )

I use my MacBook to control my Ubuntu server and sometimes

it is nice to have the full screen available rather than

SSH - for things such as virtualbox. This tutorial shows

how to use iTeleport ( from the Apple App Store ) and

vino vnc client on Ubuntu to do this. I performed these

commands on a 64-bit Ubuntu 11.10 machine.

## Install the necessary packages on the Ubuntu machine

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install vino

## Enable remote users and set a password

vino-preferences

## Start the VNC server

nohup /usr/lib/vino/vino-server &

Now, download and install iTeleport from the Apple App

Store on your Mac.

It is very easy to configure iTeleport - once you have

it downloaded and installed, simply create a new connection,

set the OS to Linux, provide your ip address and port 5900

( which is the default for VNC ). I recommend also using

SSH tunels to encrypt your connection. To do this configure

'encryption' - by providing your SSH login and password.

These steps will get you a result like the screenshot below:Hope this helps someone, Happy Coding!!
